Living in Orange County, California is generally a good thing. Oh sure there is the traffic on the freeways and a 5.5 on the Richter scale every once and a while. I live minutes from the beach, have pristine wilderness to hike in, a thriving arts community, along with ethnically diverse neighborhoods and the tastes of their authentic foods. A bowl of Pho is always a great lunch!
But even in the land of plenty there is need. Some people in Orange County go to bed hungry. Others suffer pain and sickness because they have no money for basic medical and dental services. This is where Share Our Selves has been helping since 1970 “serving the impoverished and working poor populations in Orange County”. I feel privileged to lend a hand, as a photographer, when they have the need.
One of their annual fundraisers is coming up in October and they asked me to shoot some promotion photos for this event. The Annual Celebrity Chef Dinner is October 9th this year at Hilton, Orange County. Chefs from some of the finest dining venues in the county donate their creativity and skills to create a meal for 350 or so lucky enough to attend. Proceeds from this event benefit the SOS Orange Aid Project which collects food from restaurants, grocery stores, bakeries and caterers, to distribute to low income Orange County residents.
I have not seen the menu for this for this year’s event, but if is anything like the past it will be a meal to remember. They might even serve some Pho.
