More then Head and Shoulders Corporate Portraits.
There are two main categories that corporate portraits fall into. There is the standard head and shoulders portrait. Then there are Personality Portraits. I do both at Andy Templeton Photography. I have noticed a trend that more corporate portraits are Personality Portraits. If your open and have the time, I would recommend shooting both at the same time. For standard head and shoulders I bring in a background, lights and even a make-up artist on occasion. I set up everything in advance and you come in for only a couple of minutes for their photograph. Professional, clean and available for a variety of uses.
Personality Portraits
To show more personality I incorporate elements that show what the person is known for. It is important that the photographer understands something about the subject to be photographed. What type of personality do they have. Fun loving, serious, shy, etc. You don’t want to try to force someone into an uncomfortable position. Still even the most conservative and reserved are passionate about their business. That is why they are successful. Maybe they are proud of the number of jobs they’ve created. They would like to have a photo in the manufacturing plant with workers in the background. Maybe we are talking about a technology enthusiast. They would like to take their picture in front of a new piece of equipment that helps set their business apart. In the two examples that I have below, the photographs help convey the subject’s background and personality.
The first example is of Scott Boras, Professional Sports Agent for MLB out of Newport Beach, CA. Mr. Boras represents some of the biggest names in baseball and is known as a hard negotiator. If you didn’t know the name already, you would likely infer from the photograph that this person is associated with baseball and is someone to be taken seriously.
Now take the photograph of Anthony (Tony) Thompson, co-founder of Triple Net Properties. Tony is an exuberant individual who is passionate about office building investment and management. Tony is pictured in front of one of one of his office buildings conveying a sense of victory.
