I include Executive Portrait Retouching for my clients because my cameras can be cruel. High resolution digital cameras are great at showing every detail. Sometimes this is not great for portraits.

Everyone has heard about the program Photoshop. People even refer to it as a verb, “I’ll Photoshop it”. When it is used right it is an amazing tool. I learn a new way of working with it all the time. When it comes to retouching executive portraits a light touch is needed. My clients want to look real. It is very easy to go overboard with retouching. I am not creating images for supermarket tabloids. I use large umbrellas when lighting portraits to create a soft light that clients love. Still a little detail clean-up is required when using high resolution digital cameras.
How much executive portrait retouching is too much?
Years ago when I was getting started with digital photography I was on the low end of the learning curve. I went a little overboard on occasion. I produced some client photos that made them look, well lets just say unnatural. New software is introduced constantly so I am still learning new tricks. I think I have gotten pretty good. Making the best Executive portraits is what I do. Of course if someone would like a little more or less retouching on their photo I am happy to redo their images at no charge.
