Snapshots are cool

Keep your eyes open for snapshots. I consider myself to be a professional. Yes I went to college. I have all the latest pro gear. I don’t do snapshots. Well maybe sometimes. I spent the last couple of weeks putting together a new website  that does a better “job” in displaying my “work”. Like some lucky people…

Professional Photography TIFF vs JPEG

Professional Photography Sorry if you were looking for the gossip on a celebrity marriage gone bad, but TIFF and JPEG are not to be confused with people fighting over who gets to keep the Major League Baseball team, but rather file formats for digital images. But there is still confusion. When I’m talking to clients…

Professional Photography Equipment

Recently I invested a few thousand dollars on additional lighting equipment and it got me thinking about photography equipment in general. There are many differences between a professional photographer and amateur – one of them being the tools that they bring to the job, having the right tools and knowing how to use them makes all the difference in the world.

Portrait Photography can be fun!

Looking around their lobby I saw some things to work with, frosted glass and brushed steel walls, also a nice pattern of ceiling lights. This could be fun.

Photography Post Production

Professional Photography Post Production There are several steps that take place after the photo shoot. Vast acres kept behind locked gates accessible only to stewards of the pristine environment, power line maintenance crews, or on occasion a privileged tour.   The Irvine Ranch Conservancy…

Huntington Beach

Life’s A Beach I know how lucky I am. I live near the beach. I have a lovely wife. I really enjoy my work producing high quality photographs for corporate clients. Sometimes people act surprised to hear that I have never surfed. I have been here most of my life. I have blond hair. I do like…

Hire a Professional Event Photographer

I asked my contact where they expected the student and facility to be standing during the all-important passing of the diploma. They suggested an area in front of a projection screen (ouch!). I suggested another area two feet to the right that provided a floral background and lights. I then taped down some business cards showing them exactly where to stand. I asked them stand for a test shot and showed them the difference (much better).

Green Screen Photography

This is called Chroma-Key technology or Green Screen. Basically a green colored background is used (blue works also) for the photo. This makes it easier to drop out and replace with whatever other background is required.
