Annual Report Photography
Recently I secured a contract to produce the photographs for the Orange District Attorney’s Office Annual Report. I have done a few jobs for the County of Orange and was looking forward to being involved with this particular group. You never know when you might need a friend in the DA’s office.
There shot list was long and intensive but the people directing the project were well organized and had very good vision as to what they wanted. That is always a plus. We photographed for 3 days in their offices and in the field. A few lucky people who lived on the street we used for some of the photographs got quite a show. Cops were chasing bad guys all over. People were getting arrested at gunpoint. Yes I was having fun too.
They are actually a fun group of people. We spent a morning photographing law enforcement doing a lot of mock chases, take downs and arrests.
A morning was spent in their offices illustrating the work of the office staff.
I secured the help of a couple of assistants. Having an extra person on a assignment like this is mandatory. An assistant can help with moving gear, adjust lights and provide me with extra brain power. If I had to walk away from my camera every time a light needed to be moved it would double the time on location. On a job like this one or two assistants is the difference between making good photographs and just making snapshots.
